Criminal Defense

Since joining the firm in 1996, Attorney Benson has carried on a long tradition, established by Alan A. Amaral, of providing zealous advocacy for criminal matters in the District and Superior Courts. She now represents clients in Massachusetts and Rhode Island for all criminal matters, including OUI and DWI defense, white collar crimes, and administrative hearings for professional license issues.

If you have received a summons to appear in court you should have legal representation. If you have been arrested it is in your best interest to seek the advice of an attorney.

Thanks to our convenient location just steps from the Fall River Justice Center we are accessible to clients who rely on public transportation. We are available to provide representation from the first appearance, including bail arguments and dangerousness hearings, through the entire process including discovery motions, suppression hearings and trial.

Attorney Benson’s experience includes work as a private investigator. She will focus on your case to ensure that every aspect is understood. Have you been accused of violating a 209A Order? Have you been charged with domestic Assault and Battery? If you need representation in Bristol County, or in the State of Rhode Island, including at the Rhode Island Traffic Tribunal please contact us at 508-676-0011.

In recent years, Attorney Benson has focused on trial work and appeals. In 2005, for example, Lawyers Weekly called one of her cases one of the most important decisions of the year. More recently, she successfully argued to overturn a conviction of Operating Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor, 4th Offense, before the Massachusetts Appeals Court.

In addition to representing individuals in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, Attorney Benson is now accepting referrals from other attorneys for research and writing on Appeals in all Rhode Island and Massachusetts courts. She is available to conduct timely legal research, and document drafting, including trial pleadings, motions, memoranda and appellate briefs.
